Professional alternator overhaul service to restore generator performance, ensuring stable operation, safety, and cost efficiency.

Recently, Big Sea JSC successfully completed an alternator repair and maintenance project for an ocean-going vessel, ensuring stable performance and full compliance with marine technical standards.

The alternator is one of the most critical components onboard, supplying electrical power to essential systems such as navigation, communication, lighting, and safety equipment. Any failure of the alternator can directly impact vessel safety and operational efficiency.

We provide a complete alternator overhaul service, including inspection, maintenance, repair, and component replacement follow Scope of Work:

1. Inspection and transport procedures

Conduct an on-site inspection of the equipment condition together with the vessel prior to removing the alternator for workshop repair and maintenance.

Insulation test was carried out
-We used specialized tools to dismantle the alternator, then utilized a chain block to withdraw the rotor

2. Rewinding main stator

-Main stator overhaul (rewinding and insulation treatment).
-Inspection of rotor, bearings, and related components.

-Insulation varnish curing according to standards.

3.Installation, Commissioning and Handover

After completing the overhaul at the workshop, the alternator was delivered back onboard and installed in accordance with manufacturer technical standards. Our technical team performed alignment, checked electrical connections, applied proper bolt torque, and ensured all safety conditions prior to operation.

The system was then tested under no-load and load conditions to verify operating parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, temperature, and vibration. All measurements were recorded and compared with technical standards to ensure stable and optimal performance.

Upon successful testing and verification, the equipment was handed over to the vessel along with a technical report and recommendations for operation and periodic maintenance.

  • 4. The technicians performed current measurement and insulation resistance tests.
    • Check the resistance using a multimeter between each phase and ground.
    • Check output power was checked and confirmed to be stable at 400V.
    • Connect to the main switchboard and synchronize with G/E No.1.
    • Test at 100Kw load and confirm stable operation.
